Creating a sense of belonging
At Shefford Lower School we understand how important a strong sense of belonging is for children to feel accepted, included, respected and supported so they feel they can be successful. It is crucial to shaping their social, emotional and mental health outcomes as well as their academic success.
We work hard to ensure a strong sense of community where everyone feels welcomed, known and celebrated. We routinely capture children's levels of belonging in key areas and we upskill staff in supporting outcomes to be high across these areas of belonging.
VISUAL
DATA
We believe the school should be at the very heart of the community and a place where everyone feels known and welcomed. Throughout the year we welcome parents and carers to come in to the school for a variety of celebrations, events, open classrooms, community forums and project exhibitions.

Community Forums -
Throughout the year we hold regular forums to capture the voice of our local community and parents. This supports partnership working and collaborative school improvement. These events include a face to face session, online evening sessions followed by a whole school survey.
