Volunteers & Student Placements

Volunteers play an important role in enriching school life and supporting our children. We are very grateful to the many individuals and organisations who generously give their time to support our school community.

Supporting Learning in the Classroom

Many of our volunteers spend time working directly with children. They support pupils by reading with them, helping to build confidence, improve reading skills and develop a love of books. These sessions provide valuable one-to-one support that helps children make progress and enjoy learning.

Supporting Clubs and Activities

Volunteers also help to support a range of school clubs and activities. They work alongside staff to assist with activities such as gardening and PE, helping pupils develop practical skills, teamwork and an active lifestyle.

Educational Visits and Trips

Some volunteers support school trips and educational visits. Their support allows us to safely provide more opportunities for children to learn outside the classroom and experience new environments.

University Student Placements

We are proud to work with students from the University of Bedfordshire, who complete placements within our school. These students gain valuable experience working with children and supporting teaching and learning, while also bringing new ideas and enthusiasm into the classroom.

SKITT Programme

Our school supports trainee teachers through the SKITT (School-Centred Initial Teacher Training) programme. Trainees work alongside experienced staff to develop their teaching skills while contributing to the learning experience of our pupils.

Secondary School Work Experience

Each year we welcome students from local secondary schools who complete their work experience placements with us. This gives them the opportunity to develop workplace skills, learn how schools operate and gain insight into careers in education.

Become a Volunteer

We welcome volunteers who would like to support our pupils and school community. Whether helping children with reading, supporting clubs and activities, or assisting on school trips, volunteers make a real difference to our pupils’ experiences.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please contact the school office for more information.

All volunteers are required to follow the school’s safeguarding procedures and may need to complete the appropriate checks before starting their role.
