PSHE and RSE Vision Statement
A child's social, emotional and mental wellbeing is at the heart of what we do at Shefford Lower School. PSHE is at the centre of our curriculum and an anchor for ensuring that children learn and thrive in an environment that they feel happy and safe in.
PSHE (Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education) provision within our school is taught through weekly lessons and regular check ins with our children; including focused circle times that follow the statutory framework for PSHE and RSE.

The Governors have a policy for Relationship and Sex Education (RSE). At this age RSE is taught through personal and social education (PSHCE) and also through aspects of the science curriculum. At this age children are learning about themselves and growth and change. They are becoming aware of their own feelings and friendships and developing empathy for other people. The class teacher or Head teacher will be happy to discuss any aspect of this with parents or carers.
Parents/carers have the right to withdraw their children from this area of the curriculum following discussion with the Head teacher and a written request.
